The Barrie Curling Club was founded in 1877. We were officially incorporated in 1949 to become the "The Barrie Curling Club Limited". The club is a private non-profit club, owned by the shareholders and operated by the members. The Board of Directors, which meets once a month, forms committees that are responsible for the overall management of the club.

We have seven (7) sheets of ice available for curling with the ice surface maintained by professional ice makers. Ice is available for scheduled play from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. Members may practice when there is a free sheet of ice available. Ice time may be rented for private bonspiels and can be booked through the general office.

   Available Programs
There are many sections in this club in which a member may curl. The Juniors, the Women's, the Men's, the Seniors and the Mixed section all offer curling at differing levels of competition. A curler may curl in a house league or a competitive league. In the Choose-Your-Own leagues a curler may enter a team of their own choosing. As well, there is plenty of social curling available. Bonspiels and special events are an on-going feature of this club. At the beginning of the curling season each member receives a calendar that details all scheduled curling and special events.

   OCA Competitive Curling

The Barrie Curling Club has always been active in competitive curling. Each section has a person responsible for the events hosted by the Ontario Curling Association. These individuals know where the competitions are being held and will have the dates posted. They will arrange any club playdowns that may be necessary. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact the club office at (705)726-1351. The staff will advise you of the name of the individual to consult.

   Name Tags and Club Pins
Name Tags can be ordered through the curling club office. Club pins can be purchased at the bar.

   Piano & Sound System
Both of these systems have been moved as part of the refurbishment. They are for the use of the membership. Sound System can be accessed when the bar is open, The Piano at any time. Please do not move the piano from its present location. (The Piano has been tuned and somewhat upgraded, we are also looking into the cost of being able to play music over the sound system by paying an annual fee. Soon?!)

    Ice Surface
Reports coming in are very positive and constructive. Thanks. Going for a smoke during/pre/post a game please do not wear your curling shoes outside. Everything helps.

   Club Closure
We will close the club during really hazardous weather. Messages will go through to the radio station or left on the club answering machine. Please realize that we may not all agree on some of the decisions. We do not ask you to risk getting to the club if at anytime you do not feel secure driving. Conditions can be very local.
