JUNIOR SECTION INFORMATION PACKAGE

2007 – 2008 CURLING SEASON

The Junior Section will be operating for 15 selected Sundays from late October through March. The leagues are open to males and females from ages 6 to 19.  Programs are geared to allow curlers to advance as their abilities grow. Participants in all leagues must either have curling shoes or their own slip-on slider with clean-soled running shoes.  Parents do not have to be members.  All parents are required to attend the first scheduled week to receive further information on these programs.

LITTLE ROCK LEAGUE

Little Rock curling stones are used by these younger curlers.  This is a non-competitive league with a focus on safety, instruction and most of all – fun!  A CSA approved helmet is recommended for the younger kids. On-ice parent participation is required to monitor the children’s activities and to ensure their safety - curling experience is not required.  Children aged 6 and 7 require parent on-ice participation at all times, while parents of children aged 8 - 12 are expected to sign-up for on-ice participation informally throughout the year.

  • Males and females ages 6 to 12

  • No curling experience necessary

  • 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

BANTAM / JUNIOR RECREATIONAL LEAGUE

This is a non-competitive recreational league for novice/intermediate curlers and for those moving up from the Little Rocks group.  The weekly sessions will provide both on-ice and off-ice instruction followed by a 4 end game.  Curlers will have the opportunity to learn and play in all positions.  Members in this group may also have the opportunity to spare for the Bantam / Junior Competitive league.

  • Males and females ages 12 to 19
  • No curling experience necessary
  • 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon

BANTAM / JUNIOR COMPETITIVE LEAGUE

This is geared for the more experienced curlers who wish to play in a competitive league.  Each week will offer a 6 end game, and may include a short session of instruction and drills.  Curlers may enter as a team, or as individuals and be placed on a team.  Due to the league-based nature of this program, we ask participants to commit to attend all dates, with the exception of family or school commitments.

  • Males and females ages 14 to 19
  • Minimum 2 years experience with full size rocks
  • 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon

SPACE IS LIMITED IN ALL LEAGUES – REGISTER EARLY TO ENSURE A SPOT
